Alone at Sea is a minimalist seascape that conveys extra emotion for it’s tight focus on the one subject in the frame. It creates a field of two rectangles, both blue, one containing water, and one air. The Sailboat creates a triangular relief on the field, but its size makes it seem alone, or maybe even lonely. The darkened ocean emits a slight air of foreboding as does the fact that this image was captured in a boat that’s positioned in the trough between waves.
