Haven’t finished the giveaway yet, but I’ve learned a couple of things right here in the middle of it. First and foremost, I learned that I’m not patient enough for a two week giveaway. I got the prints in on Saturday, and (Yes, I want to keep one.) I can’t wait to ship them out to the three people who end up getting them. I am really excited to give them away. Really Excited. Waiting to pick the winners for another 5 days is killing me. (In a figurative sense.)
The second major thing I’ve learned is that shipping these prints is going to be a challenge for me. I haven’t put much thought into the logistics of delivering an Art print through the mail until I decided to give one away (technically three). These aren’t posters. I can’t just roll them up and put them in a tube to be mailed out. I have to take special precautions with them to keep them from being bent, keep them dry and ensure that people can get them unpacked without damaging them. I have a lot more respect for the world of art than I did two weeks ago. I think I’m going to seek advice from shipping professionals.
Lastly, International shipping is going to be a LOT more expensive than I expected. I’m still going to do it, since these giveaways are limited in number. My rule, for now, is that a giveaway can go anywhere, but I might limit any physical prints on my store to the United States for a little while so that I can find an alternative.
All that being said, Today is February 4th. The drawing is on February 9th. There are so many days left to get your name into the giveaway. Just comment here, on Instagram, on Twitter or on Facebook before Saturday to be entered to win one of three prints of my “Morning over City Hall” photo (sized 16”x20”) signed and numbered.
Good luck to All!
