Switched to Mirrorless Gear

The blues are so deep with my new rig.

The blues are so deep with my new rig.

Well, I made a switch in gear this week. So far it's going very well. I switched in a macro fashion going from a standard DSLR rig to a Mirrorless Rig. Details at the end. I'm not making any endorsements here. My Nikon rig was a beautiful set, especially the big glass. My new Sony rig just feels more intuitive to me for a number of reasons that are personal to me. I do, however, have to say that I love the colors I'm getting out of the new gear (pre-post).

Look. My first digital camera was a Sony Cybershot, so making this change feels a bit like coming home. There are infinitely more combinations of settings on my new rig than my old Cybershot, but there's an atmosphere that I just love. (I have a histogram again!) The biggest thing I'm getting is an incredible EVF (electronic view finder) that shows me the effect of F-Stop changes. You just can't do that with a mirror.

I'm not making any endorsement or comparison here because the comparison wouldn't be valid in any case. I went from a DSLR crop sensor to a Mirrorless Full-Frame sensor. An Intermediate rig improved to a professional rig. I was shopping for more glass and decided to make the switch before I became too heavily invested in my current rig.
